CROSSCUT RECLAIMED

Wine Cellar Cherry Creek

This project started as a collaboration right from the start as it was a surprise gift from the children and family friends. Our goal was to create a space that served as an entertainment room, functional wine cellar and retreat with plenty of displays to show off the extensive wine and art collection. This particular cellar houses an extensive and valuable collection so behind the scenes the temperature and humidity control are robust. Being on the bigger side of average this cellar holds 2500 bottles in racks, lots of display cases, a separate back room for bulk case storage and plenty of flex space for large format or other uniquely shaped bottles. We included four waterfall displays as there are many special bottles and our favorite detail, the wine arch as you walk into the room. There are plenty of drawers and cabinets for storage of glassware, plates, linen and memorabilia. The counters are made from a single big old black walnut tree that once grew on family property, when the tree died a family friend cut it into slabs, stored it for many years and donated it to become the focal point of this gift. Today dad enjoys his room as a private escape as well as a place to entertain and enjoy his wine collection with friends and family.
